Fourth-year medical students hoping to match into family medicine gave an interview to the AAFP and……I couldn’t get through the article. You see, I look for any mentions about Direct Primary Care and this piece popped up. It’s called Future FPs Share Their Vision for Family Medicine and I thought to myself, “WTF do they know about family medicine?” But I get it. They are pumped to be doctors. They are finding others in their tribe and that is a really cool feeling. They are young and altruistic. But you know what? I really feel bad for them. I was one of them and I, too, found my people and loved the concept of family medicine. Then the system beat the sh$t out of me. Since then, the system has gotten even worse. Someone has to help these kids.

Please share my lecture with them.

Let’s save the children because they have no idea what’s in store for them. I am not an AAFP member but if you are you can comment on the article and maybe leave this link.

Oh, yeah, way at the bottom of the article is this:

A lot of my peers are interested in exploring direct primary care. That’s something we’ll see more and more of in the future.

That’s all we saw about DPC. Two sentences. Child, please. DPC is your only hope. The AAFP may not think so but we know the deal.

And we’ll leave the light on for you when you finally arrive.
