The Newark Post announced the opening of First State Direct Primary Care. Aaron Weaver, DO had worked the last three years in the standard medical setting before deciding to open First State DPC.

I just realized there are so many things that were wrong. So many barriers, so many layers were put between the patient and the doctor. So one day, I just decided, hey, I have to do something different.

Dr. Weaver is presently leasing a space in the Newark Urgent Care building. He hopes to grow his practice to about 700 patients, at which point he will look at bringing on another doctor. He also hopes to to own his own facility in the future and then expand First Street Direct Primary Care to other areas of the state. Dr Weaver feels like Newark is a great location to start a DPC practice.

It has the University of Delaware, it’s got a great community with a lot of families. Honestly, the population of Newark very much reminds me of kind of the average American.

Best of luck to Dr. Weaver. It seems to make perfect sense for a DPC practice to be located with an Urgent Care Center. There will be a steady flow of patients who will often not have a primary doctor. Keep us posted on your progress.
