Complete Care DPC is a labor of love for its physician-owner, Dr. Bukie Adefabi, MD.

Dr. Adefabi is a board-certified family physician with more than 14 years of experience caring for families like yours.  She believes in treating every patient as family and partnering with them to achieve the patient’s health goals.  She enjoys getting to know you the person, and forming long lasting bonds with her patients.

I love being a doctor. It’s all I ever wanted to be. Getting into med school and residency were supposed to be the hard part of my career. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Practicing medicine as determined by “insurance guidelines” become unbearable. I got tired of the now routine ways of providing healthcare (increasingly frequent prior authorizations, the focus on billable aspects of the visit, employer expecting you to do more with little to no staff, being told to “see more patients” in response to every request. The problem is that was not possibly for me. Getting to know my patients, understanding their personal journey is crucial to developing a productive doctor-patient relationship. About a year into the pandemic, I knew something had to change. By this point, I felt like I was drowning. I spent all of my time working. My family was neglected. I was charting when I got home, doing prior authorizations, med refills, answering patient messages and whatever else came into my inbox. My schedule was routinely packed, established patients were waiting months to see me. I came across Doctoring Differently – a physician training program that provides information on alternative career paths for physicians. This was where I heard about Direct Primary Care.

It’s interesting because the DPC model was what I envisioned the practice of medicine would be like. Patient centered healthcare, truly focused on restoring that almost forgotten relationship between physician and patient. I knew immediately that this was what I needed to be doing. I searched for everything DPC online, told my colleagues and patients about it. Joined the DPC Alliance, watched A LOT of videos of DPC docs. I have to say, I also felt immense relief that there were other doctors like me out there following their dreams. I left my employed position in November, and opened my DPC practice – Complete Care DPC on January 3rd 2023. The name represents my approach to patient care. My patients trust that I treat them the way I treat my loved ones, and will do everything I can to get them on the right path of their health journey.

Dr. Adefabi is happily married with 2 daughters.  The family moved from Upstate NY to the Carolinas 8 years ago, and have enjoyed not having to shovel snow since their move. When they are not shuttling between extracurricular activities for the girls, the family enjoys traveling, baking, homestyle karaoke and family movie nights.
