Shannon Scholl, MD, MPH is bringing DPC to Gastro with GastroDirect in the Raleigh, NC area. Also on the GastroDirect team is Lacee Strachan, RN, BSN. In addition to bringing the DPC payment model to gastroenterology, they are also brining a whole body approach to gastroenterology treatment.

We believe in delivering modern, evidence-based, individualized GI healthcare to our patients in a private, comfortable setting. We feel strongly that listening to you and addressing your specific concerns and questions is of utmost importance. We are unique among GIs in our emphasis on diet and its effect on the microbiome and as a result, whole body health. While Dr. Scholl is trained in traditional Western medicine, she is also trained in functional GI medicine, and discusses both with equal ease. We are out of network for all insurance providers.

Dr. Scholl was in an area private practice for 14 years but became unhappy with the traditional way of providing medical care, which puts an emphasis on numbers rather than people. When her daughter became ill, she took a hiatus and decided to explore other ways of delivering care. She enjoys getting to know patients as individuals, and has had the privilege of caring for generations of patients within many families – the highest imaginable praise.

When not talking endlessly about your microbiome and asking you if you eat enough vegetables, she enjoys spending time with her daughters, dogs and chickens.
