MinnPost announced the opening of Evergreen Primary Care in St. Paul, MN. Dr. Anita MacDonald, Dr. Shary Vang and Dr. Leslie Surbeck have teamed together in this new venture for all three of them.

The idea for a DPC practice began when Dr. Surbeck felt that she was not able to practice medicine the way she wanted to and the way she knew her patients needed. In her practice, she was always overbooked and rushing from one patient to the next. When her practice decided to restructure, she took it as a sign that it was time to practice medicine in a better way, in a way that would benefit both her and her patients. That’s when she discovered Direct Primary Care.

After deciding that Direct Primary Care was the right decision for her, Dr. Surbeck reached out to Dr. MacDonald, a former colleague, who was excited to make the jump to DPC. The pair then met Dr. Shary Vang, a physician who worked in an international medicine clinic, and Vang too was enthusiastic of DPC.

The trio opened Evergreen Primary Care in October of 2021 and they are all happy with the move. They are looking forward to practicing medicine where they have a direct connection with their patients. The look forward to being accountable to their patients and not to insurance companies.

I’m willing to have less salary to have more balance and time with my patients, MacDonald said. That’s important to me. Surbeck agreed: I’m willing to make a little bit less in order to feel better about what I’m doing.

It is exciting to see this trio coming together to make the DPC. We look forward to hearing updates in the future.
