HIPAA and DPC–DON’T do this!

Today, a little word of caution when working with employers: don’t forget about HIPAA and privacy for your patients. It’s not uncommon for business owners, CEOs, management, or HR folks to try to pry into workers’ health issues the company is paying for. Don’t let it happen. DPC docs should make this clear with employers right up in early talks, privacy laws do not allow us to discuss the medical care of your employees you pay us to see. Make sure they know. And be ready when employers try to pry. Don’t do it.
