Midmark Chair

Author: Sarah Zaheer, MD
As a solo micro practice with no staff*, I am always looking for ways to streamline my workflow. One of the things that I became responsible for the first time in my career was entering the vital signs in the chart. It has taken me time to efficiently adopt this workflow and AI scribes have also helped a lot, but there is always room for improvement, which is why I could not hold my excitement when I came across this new workflow.
When the patient sits on this exam chair, the weight is automatically entered into the EMR. The blood pressure cuff will record the BP directly into the chart. The temperature and pulse are taken similarly. The chair can be moved up and down and transformed in “under 3 seconds”.
This morning, I had a call with the sales representative and was given a quote. It is estimated to cost me only about $17,000. My start-up cost for my entire clinic was less than this. That start-up cost was well worth it, and I don’t know how to say this in a humble way- the practice can easily afford this exam table now. But one lesson that DPC has taught me over and over is that quality care does not cost a lot of money.

Love the quote “Quality care does not cost a lot of money”
If the chair costs 17K then it probably uses EPIC so that will cost you a lot more!
True!
