Remember, Most of Them Hate You

I seem to be in a battle on LinkedIn with people criticizing Direct Primary Care. I used to hit these people with facts and anecdotes and studies but it never changed anything. Now I just get immature and rip them a new one. Why? Because they hate DPC. It is against everything they believe in. There is a non-physician faculty member on there who holds an MPH. He complains that when doctors leave their FFS job they have to fill the gap to cover the patients. Well, who made them leave? What system destroyed their dream about why they became a doctor?
Then there is the healthcare consultant who believes in scaling everything. This jerk has a byline that says, “Helping healthcare startups achieve scalability with sales, marketing and operational expertise.” His thoughts on the subject?
DPC doesn’t scale. It’s a fad. Not a solution.
Both of them are very angry at me for my blistering comments. I don’t need to tell you what I said, but it wasn’t nice and probably unprofessional. I get emotional about the subject because DPC is the only thing that has made both patients and doctors happy. I worked for two hospitals in Maine for 15 years. It sucked. I was treated like a replaceable object. These two idiots on LinkedIn are from that universe and want to keep it like that forever. They hate us.
So, as you go about your day, remember that not only are you helping both you and your patients, but also pissing off their establishment. I want to thank you for doing that.

Remember you should never be upset to play the villain in someone else’s narrative. These folks sincerely think they are helping people. The problem, it is possible to be sincerely wrong, especially when you are the sceptic instead of the man in the arena.
Good points. Thanks.
