Lessons from Health Rosetta
From About Garrison Bliss, MD:
I am happy to announce that Health Rosetta has now released links to the video of talks given at their recent conference. I am including a link to the panel discussion I participated in: Where the Rubber Meets the Road: Care Innovation in the New Healthcare Economy.
I was delighted to see Shane Purcell recently asking his readers to consider their WHY when it comes to DPC. I hope that each of you is doing so and will engage with Dr. Purcell in this inquiry. The reason I am asking you to listen to this panel discussion is to let you know that DPC is not alone and that the thing that aligns us all is the WHY. The HOWs may differ, but the WHYs are simple and often coincide entirely. On this panel, I represent DPC. Some of you may quibble about IORA and whether Rushika Fernandopulie is a DINO or a DPC, but Keith Smith is clearly not a DPC. He believes in healthy markets. Even so, I predict that you will like his approach and results. He has the same WHY. Arti Thngudu is a Direct Endocrinologist, NOT DPC, but the same WHY. The founder of Health Rosetta, Dave Chase, has spent the last couple of decades finding workarounds for our diseased medical system. Increasingly, we are sharing our insights and our approaches with these other entities so that they can safely and efficiently work with DPC and extend the reach of our culture. Our WHYs are for all intents and purposes the same.
DINOs exist and deserve to be called out, but is everything that is NOT DPC also not acceptable? I ask you to ponder the question: Are these people our allies or our enemies, or something else entirely. Fixing the healthcare system cannot be accomplished solely by Primary Care doctors. In the same sense that we manage the healthcare system for our patients, whom should we align with to optimize the health of our practices and the well-being of the American healthcare system?
I have been amazed by the power of the DPC culture and I now see our culture (or at least the WHY of our culture) as the potential guidepost for transformation of the American healthcare system. Do you have any thoughts about that?

Thank you, Dr Bliss, for explaining well that aligning with the WHYs is more important than knocking those who are not DPC. Could not fully agree more.
