Administrators in Education vs. Administrators in Healthcare
This clip from Bill Maher is terrific. Watch and then exchange all the information from colleges to hospitals/healthcare. An administrator is an administrator.
My favorite quote from the clip is:
@GlennLoury responds, “They have meetings. They write memos. They oversee the enforcement of regulations. They cultivate alumni for donors and they kowtow to their clients, the students… What they don’t do is educate anybody. They don’t write any books. They don’t produce new knowledge!”
I would change the last line to “They don’t treat patients!”
This is why you left “Industrialized Medicine” to do Direct Primary Care. And don’t feel too bad for those stuck in the system. It is a choice. Many will hate you as they get “Death Row Syndrome”. This occurs when everyone on death row is in it together (FFS model) until someone gets pardoned (DPC) and they all hate that person.
Let the administrators figure out a way to treat patients.
DPC is the last hope for primary care.

I guess that is what you do when you have a $41 Billion endowment!
All the systems seem to be flush as well. The systems will all claim that they are losing money but somehow are always building the best and brightest buildings while DPC physicians are pinching pennies and making sure money is well spent but not going over budget and not renting or building more than they need or can afford.
