I haven’t used a fax machine in over 30 years. However, most practices, hospitals, etc. would not innovate because they said nothing was HIPAA-compliant except fax machines. I never understood that, but hey, there’s plenty about the healthcare status quo that I don’t understand.

Ahhhhhh, I was o.k. with a consultant who called me about a patient and then faxed details to me. There’s no way a full service practice is going to be without fax as that’s what nursing homes send crap on to be “signed” and faxed back!! Creeeap! Our practice would never, ever consider faxing forms to patients in the geographic area I practiced in as no one had a fax machine and the vast majority had no computers and were computer illiterate!!
