Want to see patients every 10 minutes until you are burned out? This is what the system does to doctors. Here’s a nice story in MedPage Today about Rebeca Berens, MD:
“I felt like I was constantly fighting so many little battles day by day, just to get basic things done,” Berens said.
The article is another great example of why DPC is so great. Check it out and see how it save Dr. Berens.
For some, autonomy means divorcing themselves from the conventional healthcare system, and wading into alternative healthcare delivery models like direct primary care. But others have found ways to maintain ownership over their work — and life — by operating within the system.
Congrats to Dr. Berens. You SHOULD be an example to all employed doctors. Why? Well, I implore you to read the rest of the piece where they describe how Carolynn Francavilla Brown, MD and Nancy Fan, MD are surviving but are not doing DPC. You tell me if you think they are really happy or not. Personally, I got a pit in my stomach with their practice “examples”. It’s nothing personal but you just know they are hanging on by a thread
Hey, Dr. Brown and Dr. Fan, give DPC a chance. You’ll thank me later.
