The Concord Monitor reports on the opening of Breakthrough Pediatrics in Concord, NH. Amy Watson, MD and Justin Chase, her husband and business operations manager, opened their Pediatric DPC practice in November 2021.

During Dr. Watson’s pediatric residency in the Bronx, she only got to to spend seven minutes on average with each patient. She knew this what not how she wanted to practice medicine, and she began looking for other options.

Dr. Watson started Breakthrough Pediatrics because she wanted to be able to give each patient the time and attention that they deserve, which allows her to create stronger, lasting relationships with patients and their families. She knew that Direct Primary Care was the only way that this would be possible, and that it will make her patients happier and healthier than ever. It just so happens to make her happier and healthier, too!

Breakthrough Pediatrics joins four other DPC practices that exist in New Hampshire, though Breakthrough is the only Pediatric DPC model clinic. Also in New Hampshire are Active Choice Healthcare in Concord, Maple Family Medicine in Hooksett, Hearthside Family Health in Peterborough and Monarca Health in Keene.

The direct primary care model has gained popularity in New Hampshire as an alternative to fee-for-service insurance billing. The state only recently allowed direct care organizations to practice outside of state insurance laws after Gov. Chris Sununu signed HB 508 in 2019.
