DPC Alliance Advocacy Efforts Gain Momentum as Direct Primary Care Advances Nationwide

It’s no surprise that Direct Primary Care (DPC) continues to gain recognition as a practical solution to rising healthcare costs. And the fact that it has become a viable and thriving alternative for a growing number of physicians seeking control over how they practice medicine is a win for both patients and doctors in America. Through its growing network of physician members and healthcare partners, the DPC Alliance continues to educate others about the benefits of the DPC model in boardrooms, classrooms, and communities across the country.
Direct Primary Care has attracted interest from policymakers across the political spectrum because it addresses concerns shared by patients, physicians, employers, and communities alike. While the DPC Alliance remains intentionally nonpartisan, it recognizes the importance of helping educate decision-makers about the value of the DPC model and the role it can play in improving access to care.
Last month, DPC Alliance President Dr. Kelsey Smith testified before the Texas Senate Committee on Health & Human Services, emphasizing the importance of healthcare affordability and highlighting the role direct primary care physicians play in keeping care accessible, transparent, and patient-centered. Her testimony underscored the growing demand for healthcare models that prioritize the physician-patient relationship while reducing administrative burdens and costs.

The conversation will continue July 14 when Dr. Kelsey Smith joins DPC pediatrician Dr. Kelly Parker-Mello as featured presenters at the PrimaryCare26 hybrid conference. Their session will explore the future of direct primary care and the opportunities ahead as policymakers continue to rethink how primary care is delivered and financed.

As legislative and regulatory activity surrounding healthcare continues to evolve, the DPC Alliance remains actively engaged in monitoring developments across the country. Through advocacy, education, and collaboration, the organization equips members with the resources, relationships, and support needed to build thriving DPC practices while ensuring that direct primary care physicians have a strong community and collective voice in shaping the future of affordable healthcare.
