First Article: Start Up Supply List

A list of items needed to start a DPC practice is actually incredibly short. The mainstays are a stethoscope… and well, maybe that’s it. Actually, even that is debatable.

Every DPC is different from the beginning. Some have start-up budgets of a couple hundred dollars and some have hundreds of thousands of dollars ready to invest in their ideal practice. Capital plays a role in the start up supplies as does your unique practice – Will you do procedures? Women’s health or infants? Carry medications, draw blood, or offer IV hydration? These and many other practice intricacies determine the need for different types of supplies.

However, I created a list of supplies I would try to start with if I could do it all over again. Some things can wait (ECG Machines, Ultrasounds, fully stocked medicine cabinets) and other things may be obviously necessary and not on the list (writing utensils, paper, office furniture/decor) but my hope is that the list helps those who are in the brainstorming or start up phase.
