Vanguard Direct Family Medicine: Medical Care Without the Red Tape

After practicing in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, for 18 years, Dr. Christine Hoffman opened the first Direct Primary Care (DPC) office in Murfreesboro on March 25, 2017, and it is still going strong! The transition from her established practice to the Direct Primary Care model allows Dr. Hoffman to continue to provide the highest quality care, for which she has been rated by insurers in the past, while continuing to focus on her patients’ needs with unmatched affordability and convenience. The DPC model allows more time and attention to her patients and provides all services at a major discount so her patients can get the best for their health care dollars.
Before becoming a Direct Primary Care provider, Dr. Hoffman operated a traditional practice that accepted insurance. Some of the hoops that these traditional practices jump through include quality ratings. While Dr. Hoffman is delighted to have been ranked as preferred by many insurance companies, she is even happier that she is no longer subject to ratings. No more quality ratings; just quality time between her and her patients.
I went into DPC to return the relationship with my patients to one between me and my patient. I was tired of all the BS that insurance was putting me and my patients through at the expense of patient care.
Working alongside Dr. Hoffman is her medical assistant, Michelle Loyd. Before joining Dr. Hoffman in Vanguard Direct Primary Care, she worked at a local pediatric clinic for ten years. She then joined Dr. Hoffman’s previous Family Medicine practice, where they worked together for four years before the transition to Vanguard Direct Family Medicine in 2017.
It is great to hear an update on how a medical practice can successfully transition from an insurance-based model to a direct primary care model. Great job, ladies!
