Thrive Pediatrics and Wellness: The Name Says it All
Kristin Strange, MD, owner and operator of Thrive Pediatrics and Wellness in Lake Park, NC opened her practice in February 2024 after practicing in the traditional healthcare system for over 25 years. We are happy to report that after just one short year the practice is truly thriving. By September 2024, Dr. Strange already had 630 patients. It was quite the whirlwind, but Dr. Strange was up for the challenge and excited to offer DPC to the pediatric community. She had studied about DPC and even attended a Mastermind Conference in Greenville, SC in 2023 in preparation for this journey and knew this was the right move for her and for the children she serves.
Direct Primary Care (DPC) has been everything I was looking for, and more! I love that I am actually building relationships with my patients and families. I am developing my own clinical skills as I spend time with each patient. I cannot overstate how much more rewarding the art of medicine has been for me. Indeed, it seems more of an art now as I am focusing on individualized care rather than just masking symptoms with a quick prescription or outsourcing with a referral. I am excited to go to work, and my family loves the increased flexibility I have in being more present at home. This model provides a promising and exciting future for healthcare.
After reaching 630 patients, the practice continued to thrive, and Dr. Seth Spencer joined the team in January 2025 and now the practice is up to 772 patients. Having experienced cancer as a teenager, Dr. Spencer knows firsthand what it’s like to be a patient, which has driven his passion for pediatrics and helping the healing process of children and families through difficult times. He is excited to be part of a practice where he feels he can do that without the barriers of the traditional healthcare models.
I am looking forward to diving more into root cause medicine to try and put a dent into the chronic disease pandemic that plagues our children and families in the U.S. now that I will have more time to do so, one child at a time.
