Opening her practice, Revive MD Direct Primary Care, right before the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, was a challenge, but Dr. Payal Jhawar, founding physician and CEO, never gave up because she believes in Direct Primary Care.

DPC has refueled my passion for primary care because it has brought back that personal touch to patient-doctor relationships. It has provided me the freedom to practice clinical medicine the way it should be and has helped my patients feel heard and valued. My hope is to have “DPC” be a term that is commonly used and understood in my area. I want patients and doctors to know that DPC gives the freedom to choose on so many levels.

Dr. Jhawar completed her Bachelor’s degree at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She went on to pursue her career in medicine by attending St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada. After earning her M.D., Dr. Jhawar moved to Springfield, Massachusetts and completed her Internal Medicine Residency program at Baystate Medical Center, a Tufts University program.

She and her husband then moved to Connecticut, and Dr. Jhawar started her primary care career at Hartford Healthcare Medical Group in 2013. While they enjoyed their time in New England, they decided to move to sunny Florida at the end of 2015.

Dr. Jhawar joined Manatee Physician Alliance in Lakewood Ranch and spent four years providing primary care to the local community. She became an advocate for patients and physicians by being a part of the Physician Advisory Committee. As a result, she was the recipient of the Wellmed Exceptional Patient Care Award and Top Internist in 2020.

In 2022, when Dr. Jhawar opened Revive MD DPC, she spent more than a year providing telemedicine care through the pandemic and has appreciated the value of virtual care in addition to in-person care.

Dr. Jhawar lives in Bradenton with her husband, daughter and son. In her free time, she enjoys exercising, Zumba, Indian dancing, creating healthy recipes in the kitchen, playing tennis, spending time with her family and exploring new restaurants.

We recently had the pleasure of spending time with Dr. Jhawar at the DPC Summit in Minneapolis. She is a breath of fresh air and her passion for DPC and her patients shines through. It is inspiring to learn about practices that started and survived during the pandemic!
