PeaPod Pediatrics: It’s Like Having a Pediatrician in Your Pod

Dr. Sarah Wiersma, founder and physician of PeaPod Pediatrics in Scottsdale, AZ, left corporate medicine in order to start a practice where she could provide direct access for her patients. As a mother herself, she understands what it’s like to raise little ones and wants to provide convenience to the families she serves.

Families were unhappy with long wait times, rushed appointments, and endless phone trees just to see me in a corporate run practice. I started my own direct care pediatric practice to give families access to me whenever they need it.

Dr Wiersma enjoys watching her patients grow and partnering with them to keep their kids healthy. With a smaller patient panel, she now has more time to dedicate to the care of the families she serves, Her patients find her caring, passionate, and thorough.

Dr. Wiersma has particular interests in the areas of feeding and nutrition, preventive medicine, and parenting advice. Dr. Wiersma has completed the training required for board certification in breastfeeding medicine (NABBLM-C) and to be a certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) to provide the best support to parents who choose to breastfeed.

Outside of her practice she enjoys spending time with her own children, running, and reading nonfiction.

People in the area have certainly embraced Dr. Wiersma and the DPC model. The practice is presently full, but patients who are still want to join can now sign up for the waitlist with enrollment reopening in May.
