NPR Colorado highlighted three new businesses that have recently opened in rural Yuma County in northern Colorado. One of these businesses is  Uyemura Family Medicine in Wray, Colorado. About six months ago, Dr. Monte Uyemura opened his DPC Clinic.

Dr. Uyemura is a board-certified family physician who has practiced in Wray since 1996. He left his Wray Family Clinic partnership after 25 years, feeling the practice was stable and in “good hands,” and finally fulfilled his pandemic-delayed dream of opening Uyemura Family Medicine. He states:

I had been thinking about this for seven years probably. And prior to this, there just wasn’t a good time. I didn’t want my kids to just see me dream about something like this and then never do it. He believes the science and technology of medical care will continually change and advance, but the one constant is that everyone should have a family doc to be there as a guide, friend, and, on rare occasion, a healer.
