At the start of 2023, Harris Family Health will be opening in Flint Michigan. East Village Magazine recently featured Aisha Harris, MD, the owner and physician of Harris Family Health. This is exciting news for Flint since this is the first DPC practice in the area. Harris is a 2011 UM-Flint graduate, and she returned to Flint in 2020 after her training in Chicago at the University of Illinois and medical school in Washington, DC at Georgetown University. Harris is a board certified Family Medicine physician whose goal is to improve health access and outcomes in the Flint and Genesee County community. She wants to be a resource for the community and provide people with an alternative to the frustrating health system.

I want to help patients feel empowered to make the best decisions they want and make them more affordable. Direct Pay Care is new to Flint but it is a great opportunity to feel like they can improve their health outcomes, to feel like they have someone in their corner advocating for them and feel like they have strong doctor/patient relationship.

Dr Harris has also started the health outreach platform BLK FAM DOC that utilizes various ways to share health information include a podcast called Black Family Doctor available on Spotify and Apple.Additionally, she created the Flint Health Hub that shares local health resources as well as a weekly e-newsletter of local health related news and health highlights.

Congratulations to Dr. Harris. Send us an update when you have your grand opening.

  1. Is there a compiled list of DPC’s in Wisconsin and Michigan? I really need that to help our members get to them! 7155704407

    1. I would look at the DPC alliance website. You can look at the DPC frontier mapper are as well, but they include hybrid offices, as well as ones run by nurse practitioners.
