Figtree Family Medicine will soon be opening in Newbury, Massachusetts. Dr. Risa Schulman is a Board Certified Family Medicine Physician and has been practicing locally for over 10 years. Most recently, she served as Medical Director at Beth Israel Lahey Health in Amesbury, MA. Dr. Schulman explains why she is now making the switch to DPC.

Like many doctors, I have become frustrated by the red tape and waste that have placed unnecessary barriers between me and my patients, compromising our relationship and their care. I went into medicine to help people, not to fill out forms and click buttons on a computer screen. I have founded my Direct Primary Care Practice to return family medicine to its roots: clinical excellence, compassionate knowledge of each individual patient, and accessibility.

Dr. Schulman brings a wealth of expertise to her practice including a certificate in Medical Acupuncture from Harvard Medical School and 200 hours of Yoga Teacher Training from Kripalu Center for Yoga and Healing. When not practicing medicine, you can find her chasing after her 3 young children, trying to find time to run through the woods, and eating sushi.

Dr. Schulman attended the DPC Summit in July, and Dr. Farrago enjoyed talking with her about her switch to DPC. DPC News looks forward to hearing updates when the practice opens in November.
