RiverRock Clinic has opened in Woodfin, NC. Catherine Lot, DO, the owner and physician of RiverRock Clinic, provides Direct Primary Care in a holistic, comfortable atmosphere.

RiverRock Clinic is the interplay between “rock” which is the steadiness of conventional medicine with “river” which is the water element and the need for us humans to be flexible with the turns of life. Together: rock and river makes for a holistic approach to health.

Dr. Lok grew up in a small Ohio town, where her mother was the local chiropractor. As a child, she would be her mother’s little shadow on visits to the local Amish community. They would be invited into the patients’ homes on cold, wintery mornings: colorful herbs hanging in the kitchen; warm with the smell of fresh-baked bread. There, in the comfort and freedom of the patient’s own home, the patient would reveal their pains and receive a laying-on of healing hands. She grew up knowing the power of this healing connection between the doctor and the patient.

Dr. Lok received her medical degree from A.T. Still University of Health Sciences in Missouri. However, she spent any time she had to myself developing her holistic medicine skills: hands-on osteopathic skills, food as medicine, nature healing, and energy healing. 

She completed her family medicine residency at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, ME. She saw thousands of patients and was the primary care physician for hundreds. At the end of residency, she turned down a high-paying job because she knew the type of doctor she could be and the healing that was possible for her patients. 

I turned down a job with a six figure sign-on bonus because I wanted to practice medicine aligned with my values: treat patients holistically and give exceptional primary care to those who otherwise can’t access it. 

She was unsure about entering the unknown world of business and opening a clinic, but she trusted that practicing in alignment with her values outweighed the discomfort of the unknown. Dr. Lok then opened RiverRock Clinic in January 2024.

When Dr. Lok is not in the clinic, she enjoys eating Ohio-style shredded chicken sandwiches with her parents who live in Ohio and hiking with her brother in Phoenix, Arizona. She also enjoys avoiding stepping on others’ feet at Tango events in North Carolina.
