Dr. Michael Chunn started his path in healthcare as a phlebotomist at the University Hospital in Little Rock, AR.  The energy of the hospital and a deep interest in science directed him to a career in medicine.  In a few short years, he was a student in that same hospital and he graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1998.  He completed Family Medicine residency at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH, serving as co-Chief Resident in his final year of training.

Dr. Chunn first practiced in Benton, KY, in both inpatient and outpatient settings in a rural community, then transitioned to Occupational Health and Emergency Care.  In 2007, he and his family moved to Cincinnati to start Chunn Family Medicine.  Initially a part of Premier Health Partners, in 2016 CFM became a fully independent practice, taking a step away from corporate involvement in the doctor-patient relationship.  In January 2022, the DPC model was introduced to Dr. Chunn by a long-time colleague.  The idea of returning to the foundations of medicine became a growing preoccupation, and with the support of colleagues and his family, Dr. Chunn decided to transition CFM to CFM DPC in January 2023.

I made the switch due to the clear logic and simplicity of the model that removes so many barriers between a true doctor-patient relationship. At 51, I think I added 15+ years to what was looking like a very early retirement from the FFS world. Wish I had heard of DPC years before!

Dr. Chunn has been married to Andrea since 1995.  Together, they have raised three amazing adult children. Copper, the mini Golden Doodle, keeps the house alive with walks and fetch.

Faith and spirituality play a significant role in Dr. Chunn’s life.  In his downtime, Dr. Chunn dabbles in woodworking, loves baseball (Go Cardinals!), attends live music and theater, and enjoys a good show on TV or the big screen.  He and Andrea have been dubbed “foodies” by some of their friends and love the food scene in Cincinnati.

  1. Thanks for going to Mason to practice DPC!! That is where I grew up when it was a small farm community not the large part of metropolitan Cincy now. I am in Paris, KY practicing DPC and it makes me happy to know friends now have that option there!
