Amy Blaising Wallace, D.O. is pleased to announce the opening of Healthy Values DPC, her new direct primary care practice in Okemos MI.  She is grateful to current DPC primary care physician Dr. Adriana Raus of Family Doc Direct for allowing her to share office space as Healthy Values DPC gets underway. The new practice opened 10/3/22 and builds on the DPC movement in the mid Michigan area.

Dr. Wallace is a lifelong Michigan resident and family medicine physician practicing in the state for 23 years. She attended The University of Notre Dame for her undergraduate studies graduating with a B.S. degree in 1992. She then attended Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSU-COM), graduating in 1996. She is happy to still be working in the Lansing MI area near MSU and to call herself a proud Spartan.

Dr. Wallace has worked as an employed primary care physician for three Michigan hospital systems over her 23 year career and also had her own solo independent practice for a brief time.  During her employed physician years, she also held administrative roles, serving as a parttime medical director for an employed medical group and as a medical director of population health for a clinically integrated physician network.  She has been a peer reviewer for the Peer Review Organization since 2005 and also serves as an associate clinical professor at MSU-COM precepting medical students and clinical skills workgroups for second year medical students.

Dr. Wallace credits Dr. Raus (a former colleague when both were employed by the same hospital) for introducing her to the DPC concept and encouraging her to pursue a practice change when faced with confronting burnout but not wanting to give up on medicine and primary care.

“I kept in touch with Adriana after we both left our employed positions and visited her at her new office a few times once she got Family Doc Direct up and running.  I reached out to her when I felt it was time for me to make a change and she encouraged me that I could do DPC and be successful.  Even though I am new to the DPC world, it really reflects the way I feel that I’ve always practiced (albeit under duress from insurers and health system employers). It’s extremely important to me to take time to listen to my patients’ needs and concerns and to formulate treatment plans with them that work for both of us. I am really excited to be starting this ‘last third’ of my career in the DPC model and see it as my career lifeline.”

When Dr. Wallace isn’t enjoying the challenges of starting her own DPC practice, she enjoys spending time with her family, running and reading as well as hiking and fishing in Michigan’s beautiful Upper Peninsula.
