Listen to Her: Angela Andrews, MD’s Book on DPC & Women’s Health

I always want to support my DPC colleagues when I can. I met Angela Andrews, MD, years ago when I went to help out at a DPC Mastermind in either NC or SC. I am too old, as you can tell by the picture, to figure out which or when. We were at an outdoor food truck dining area when I first sat down with her, and we started talking about Direct Primary Care. I was impressed by her enthusiasm and personality. I knew right then and there she would make it. Fast forward, and she is now mentoring others in the DPC world. But there was more up her sleeve. Angela is a writer. She writes here at DPC, and now she has written her first book. I am so proud of her.
Listen to Her screams Direct Primary Care as the answer to so many of the problems we see in healthcare. It centers on women’s health and some of the subconscious or even conscious biases of the doctors who treat them. Angela talks about her own health issues and then goes on to give case examples with different patients. Not all patients are fixable, but they can all be listened to. The problem is the willingness of the doctor to do so, as well as the time needed to do it.
The book is short, but it is worth it. You can buy it here. Buy it for a doc thinking about DPC. Buy it for a patient, friend, or family member who needs a doctor who will give them time. Right now, only Direct Primary Care allows doctors to have that time.
Thank you, Angela, for writing this, and thank you for your continued contributions here at DPC News. You are awesome.

Remember, National DPC Day is November 1, the day when people start enrolling in insurance plans. Get the word out by sending them here.
