The Four Horsemen Destroying Healthcare.

FOUR HORSEMEN is a concept that has been used in various contexts.  

Four horsemen has been used to describe the most important players in sport.  

Notre Dame football had its 1920s four dominant players under Knute Rockne. 

In the tech world, four horsemen describe the most influential companies: 

  Google, Apple, Facebook and Amazon 

There is even an apocalyptic shot called Four Horsemen:  

  Jack Daniels + Johnny Walker + Jim Beam + Jameson  

(that would certainly be the death of me )

The most well known context is from the Bible.

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are described in the New Testament.

They depict darkness and the end of of the world..

CONQUEST focuses only on triumph and prosperity.

WAR is obviously chaos and turbulence; the opposite of peace.

FAMINE symbolizes people stripped of their most valuable resources.

And DEATH is self explanatory.

Healthcare has its own Four Horsemen

Not the 4 diseases killing patients: vascular disease, diabetes, dementia and cancer.

No. Healthcare has four horsemen that are killing healthcare.

NETWORKS prioritize market share, profits and prosperity.

INSURANCE COMPANIES create constant chaos and turbulence.

ADMINISTRATORS make calculated decisions that constantly under value physicians.

The GOVERNMENT and all the 3/4lettered organizations(AMA CMS FDA CDC AAP ABIM AAFP

the list goes on…) are doing more harm than good.

They are quite literally sucking the life of medicine. Destroying healthcare.

Destroying patients’ health and making it more difficult for doctors to deliver care.

Healthcare is facing its own judgment day.

That is both scary and sad.

Ahhh low and behold; there does appear to be a lifeline.
