$50,000 a Year for Concierge Medicine?

Imagine paying $50K a year for your concierge care. Wow. That’s what this article in the Boston Globe explores: Some patients are paying up to $50,000 per year in fees for ‘concierge medicine.’ Here’s what’s behind its rise. When you read the piece you will soon realize the author uses the same recipe as every other article on this topic:

  1. Explain how shocked you are that patients hate the system and will pay money for a membership practice.
  2. Explain what the fee gives patients.
  3. Explain why doctors are doing it.
  4. Reference “experts” who state this will worsen the shortage of primary care doctors.
  5. Reference “experts” who state this is too expensive for patients.
  6. Blame the doctors.

What this article didn’t discuss, however, is that Direct Primary Care is no different than concierge medicine except we are AFFORDABLE!

No patient needs to pay $50K a year!! How about $75 a month on average?

It changes the narrative of the whole story, right? This is just poor reporting by the author in this piece.

Ridiculous.
