In 2017, when I attended my first DPC Summit as a 4th year medical student, I had a hard time finding peers who even knew what DPC was. Fastforward to 2022. I’ve been meeting first year medical students who want to make their career not just primary care, but direct primary care. We have come a long way as a movement and inspiring the pipeline has been a vital part. Now, thanks to the leadership of Alliance President Vance Lassey and the Board, we can take our engagement with the pipeline to the next level.

On Monday October 3 from 8-9pm, the DPC Alliance will be hosting its annual all members meeting. Among the topics of discussion is a vote to amend the bylaws, adding a resident and a medical student seat to the board. This will help raise awareness and improve engagement amongst residents and medical students (RaMS). Even if you cannot make the meeting, please take time to vote. We need a certain percentage of participation in the election to make the change.

If you are not yet a member of the DPC Alliance, check it out! You’ll be part of the best community in all of primary care and have access to all sorts of education and vendor discounts. Feel free to reach out to any board member with questions.
