Breaking News: The Government is using Medicare Fraud Money to Sponsor Over 180,000 Direct Primary Care Doctors!
Recent investigations into Medicare fraud keep turning up billions of dollars. One case in point is “a Texas man who helped orchestrate a health care fraud scheme that billed Medicare billions of dollars for medical equipment such as orthotic braces, glucose monitors, urinary catheters and wound dressings that patients often did not need and, in many cases, never received.” The amount? Only $3.4 billion!
The DOJ also announced the largest healthcare fraud case in U.S. history, charging 324 defendants—including 96 medical professionals—for their involvement in schemes totaling over $14.6 billion in false claims! The fraud involved telemedicine, cardiovascular genetic testing, and durable medical equipment (DME).
Here is the best part. That money ($18 billion) is enough to sponsor 180,000 primary care doctors to leave the system and start their own Direct Primary Care! The government’s new program, called Run DPC (I guess they have a sense of humor), will use this Medicare fraud money to support each qualified doctor with $100,000 to make this move, as long as they supply records of their progress.
