Typical insurance-based practice codes

I found Mary Tipton’s post on LinkedIn (and FB) and thought I would share it here with her permission.
One more clinic day until I leave my insurance based practice.
THIS right here is why I cannot continue in this broken model. This is an actual (and typical) list of the codes I had to document for a recent visit for a Medicare Advantage patient.
All these codes attested to, in a 20 minute visit.
20 minutes with the patient and 60+ minutes later typing redundant and useless plans for each code.
Who benefits here?
Not the patient.
Not the doctor.
Only the greedy vertically integrated companies that want the maximum risk score for their panel of patients and coerce physicians to cook the books for them in the name of “accurate coding”.
It is wrong.
It is going to bankrupt Medicare and force all the good doctors out – mark my words.
I think this says it all. Thank you, Dr. Tipton and good luck in your journey!! Her website for her practice is here.
