Rose, Thorn, Bud, Seeds to End Your Day and Help Your Life

I first heard about this in a podcast. I liked it and started doing it but then life intervened and I stopped. That was stupid. That being said, it is a great way for reflecting on your day and giving you a little personal introspection You can use this for your DPC job or just life. It is real simple. Get a journal and put down: Rose, Thorn, Bud, Seeds
- Rose (Positive) – What good happened today? What went well in your personal life (family, health, etc.)? What are the successes or positive aspects of the situation or your DPC job? What great things happened there?
- Thorn (Challenges) – What bad happened today? This could be personally or on the job. What are the difficulties or challenges faced in your practice? What needs improvement or addressing? How bad was it really?
- Bud (Potential))- What do you look forward to in life or the job? What new ideas or opportunities exist for improvement or future development in your practice?
- Seeds (Future)– What have you done for others (friends, family, strangers)? What have you done to help the DPC movement nationally? Have you planted the seeds of DPC in the brains of medical students or residents? Could you? What service have you given to others without expecting anything back?
Obviously, you can change the questions you ask yourself but if you don’t do something like the Rose, Thorn, Bud, Seeds exercise then you tend to focus on the………NEGATIVE. Your brain only wants to put out fires and try to check off those boxes while also letting the one idiot, who complained about your care, rent space in your head. Stop doing this!
Try this for one week and give me some feedback. You will notice a major difference in life.
