DPC Brings Back the Art of Medicine

Sometimes a picture says it all. I had to show you this image above. I do not have the source so I cannot credit it. There is something magical about the picture on the left. And something gross to the one on the right. Now, to be fair, I do not know the circumstances of the latter image but I still want to make this point. There is room in healthcare to know your patient and spend time with him or her. There is room in healthcare to NOT stare at the computer and actually listen or examine the patient. Unfortunately, that room doesn’t exist in the employed insurance model. That room only exists in Direct Primary Care.
When I started my practice I would make these cool pictures of old-time doctors and put them on the walls of my office. Why? I wanted to show patients what doctoring could be. I also wanted to remind myself of what doctoring could be. Here are some of those images:

There is nothing wrong with being low-tech once in a while. It’s called being human.
