DPC is growing and so is rootsMD! DPC News reported on the opening of rootsMD last year at this time, and now Dr. Preimesberger is in the news again. Amanda Preimesberger, MD has taken her practice to the next level with a new location and a beautiful new building. Located in Verona, MI, Dr. Preimesberger started her DPC practice in a 12×12 rented room, and in October of 2021 she has opened a brand-new 2,000 square foot clinic, with spaces she can now rent out to other healthcare professionals. Presently, she rents out one space to a local physical therapist, and in the near future she hopes to have a psychology or mental service also come to rootsMD.
She is presently halfway to her 400 maximum patient goal and is still the solo practitioner in her office, but as her practice grows, she hopes to add on another physician who she can trust and who can share her goals:
Starting a private practice a bit closer to my ‘roots’ felt like the perfect place to come back full circle and start something new with a more community-based feel again. I needed to get back to the roots of why I got into medicine, I felt like I was getting lost. As her practice continues to grow, Dr. Preimesberger keeps spreading the word about DPC to her community and other heath professionals.
Preimesberger said local med students are reaching out to her already, to find out more about starting their own direct primary care clinics.
It incentivizes people to stay in primary care medicine and love it and saves people from thinking about leaving or cutting back. I think it can save medicine. We need good people to stay in the game. I want to help other physicians escape and thrive, get that snowball going.
She sees it as not so much the future, but more returning to the past.
She compared it to when every small town had a local doctor who hung out their shingle.
Healthcare should be about the relationship between the physician and patient, not about insurance companies, she says.
