Dr. Alicia Wooldridge, owner and practitioner of LakelandMD, was in the news again. The Ledger reported on how LakelandMD has already made an impact on the community since opening in February. One of Wooldridge’s patients talks about how she likes more than just the cost savings:

I found that most traditional physicians were prescribing expensive medications during brief appointments that did not seem to improve her daughter’s health.

They were only willing to prescribe the top medicine, not necessarily listen to our specific case. And so my experience with DPC and doctor Wooldridge is she’s absolutely qualified and, you know, willing to go deeper than just the 15 minutes.

She thought it was going to be more expensive but after comparing costs with her health insurance provider she found she saved significantly more money. Significantly.

Not only are individuals in the Lakeland seeing the benefits but so are area businesses. DPC News highlighted how a local car dealership was also working with Dr. Wooldridge. Both the business and the employees have seen benefits from joining LakelandMD. Wooldridge says:

Rising heath insurance premiums come with higher deductibles, which are usually never reached by most employees in health insurance plans. So unless the patient has a very major illness or accident, the employees don’t actually derive any benefit from it.

Employees often avoid ongoing appointments for routine things, for urgent care visits, for ear infections, for strep throat, for whatever; because it (the insurer-based plan) doesn’t really kick in until the deductible has been met.

Keep up the good work, Dr. Wooldridge. She is doing a great job of spreading the news through multiple news outlets. This is a very important marketing strategy, especially when you are just starting your DPC practice.
